Poetry

“Language against which we have no defence” - David Whyte

A poem is a call to the creative unconscious, an invitation from the often neglected landscapes of the psyche - to participate more fully in the meaning-making dance of life. Offered with skill and sincerity, poetry is a magical linguistic device — one that weaves the objective and subjective worlds together, deepening our capacities of perception and expanding our awareness,

Attuning to the poetic muse we are invited to relax, to settle more deeply into the present moment - a conscious slow, deep breath, putting aside distractions, and gently gathering the mind before opening to the poetic invitation. On occasion, we may find ourselves transported, landing deep in the realm of the Knowing, and catch a glimpse the possibilities beyond.

When speaking with a group of people, it would be unusual if I didn't open with a poem. Here are some I've shared over the years: in conference keynotes, while facilitating rooms charged with passion and conflict, fireside in the woods during deep-nature immersions, and most intimately while sitting across from those who stepped into the psychotherapeutic spaces I hold, and facilitate.
